Crazy censorship

My TIVO records television shows that it thinks I would like and saves them as TIVO Recommendations. It does a good job of finding the one hour of music videos played on MTV.

This morning as I was getting ready for work, I played the recorded videos. One of the videos was "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston. It is a catchy little tune about a guy who won't date a girl because she is too beautiful and he fears that she would have him jealous all the time. "You're way too beautiful girl...That's why I'd never get with you...You'd have me suicidal, suicidal"

MTV decided it should bleep out the suicidal part.

Now I understand that we don't want to promote suicide among teenage males on any level but should MTV be bleeping out the word suicide when they leave in other offensive words in many other videos...and if they are going to become censors, maybe they should stop showing booty videos! Maybe MTV should do an MTV News expose on suicide. Back in my day, MTV was so cutting edge...now it is a sex driven ratings ploy...it is such a shame!

Overheard

Today, I walked past the men's restroom in the Commons. A Tech Staff employee was in there cleaning. She said, "Come on you little turd".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

It costs how much??!!

Today, I called the Nissan dealer to schedule my 30,000 maintenance appointment. The recommended maintenance fee to keep your car under warranty only costs - get ready for this - $470.00!!!

Please send donations to "Tracy is broke, this ain't a joke" care of my new address (which would be the cardboard box behind the dumpster if my employer didn't pay my rent!).

Curse of the new car

I think maybe I should not have bought a new car or maybe I bought the wrong one because I have been pulled over by the Police twice since buying my car just one month ago! Driving home from visiting my brother and friends down South, I was pulled over in West Virginia for speeding. Yes, I was speeding so I expected the ticket as soon as I saw the Police. Luckily, I received just a warning :)

On Sunday, I was pulled over on campus. Apparently I was driving the wrong way down a one way street. I didn't see any signs but the cop was not nice and gave me a ticket - for $107.50!!!! I am fighting the ticket because it was not a clearly posted one way street but I am worried about my luck with this new car. Before this month, I have only been pulled over twice in my life - once when I was 18 for speeding and once in Indiana when campus security told me to drive the wrong way down a street and the Police saw me.

Hmmmm - maybe there is a theme here :(
