Colors of Fall

Final previously unpublished post. Not much here.

Driving around town today, I finally realized that Fall has truly arrived. I love Fall. It is probably my favorite season but I think the fact that it lasts only a few weeks has some to do with why I love it so much. Fall is here for a few weeks and then it is gone. Just enough to love - unlike winter which can drag on

The Halfway Mark

I finished the first half of the food study today! While the first six weeks were supposed to be focused on weight maintenance, I lost 3.6 pounds. At one time, I was down almost 8 pounds but they fattened me back up by feeding me blueberry muffins (and larger portions).

I am excited for part 2 - the weight loss portion, which will last another 6 weeks, because I am looking forward to not having to eat so much food every day. Today though my menu had one less blueberry muffin and one less piece of string cheese. Why couldn't I have less lettuce and more cheese?!

I drive myself crazy too

My last couple posts have been about how other people's actions irritate me so I thought it was only fair and balanced if I report on a personal behavior I have that drives me crazy. While straightening up the bathroom today, I came across my box of face care products. These aren't cheap items. I have spent hundreds of dollars on wrinkle reducers, puffy eye solutions, cosmetics, lip plumpers, exfoliaters, extra special serums, etc. I hardly ever use any of it!

Ugh!

Whoa

Today at Denny's, all the customers that did not want to sit where I sat them offered explanations why. One couple had a dog in a car so they needed a window seat. One lady apologized when her mother-in-law told me she wasn't going to sit where I sat her. The lady apologized and explained that she has been dealing with her mother-in-law her entire married life. Poor lady.

I wonder if my blog is more powerful than I think. Could Oprah's Secret really work?! I put the idea out there and it happens?! Can't hurt to try ;)

I would like to mention that I don't like it when people drive through parking lots by driving through empty spaces instead of down the aisles. I almost have been hit twice in the last two weeks because people can't follow this simple rule of the parking lot driving.

Oh, and I still would like to win the Powerball tonight. Come on, make me a millionaire!

Pet Peeves

As a hostess at Denny's, I have discovered that I have a few pet peeves that I have to experience every Saturday and Sunday. Please, if you do these things, for my sanity and to make the world a better place, stop now!

Pet Peeve #1: Your child is not half a person. Please do not say you are a group of 2 1/2 when you come for breakfast with your spouse and child. If you want to draw attention to the fact that you have a child with you say you are a party of two and a highchair or two adults and a child.

Pet Peeve #2: Restaurants divide the seating available amongst the wait staff that is currently working. If I try to seat you at a table and you move to another table, you throw off the balance. If you then get poor service because you caused your server to have too many tables at once, suck it up. You should still tip and next time you should sit where I seat you.

Plinky creates a prompt list every week to help bloggers generate ideas for their posts. Today's question :

What two cities should be moved closer together?

Um, let me think...Riverside and University Park.

Make it happen Plinky!

Portion control

On the weekends, I pick up a large cooler full of food intended to get me through the weekend. It's kind of weird to imagine that I eat a cooler full of food every three days.

So far, the study is going well. Most days I have too much food to eat. I have to eat it all so it isn't uncommon for me to be eating a salad at 9pm. Since the goal of the first six weeks of the study is weight maintenance with the benefits of high grains, I get a lot of food. It would be easier to get my calories by giving me cheese, potatoes, and a slice of prime rib but I guess that doesn't fit in the study. ;) When my menu includes a side salad with my meal, the lettuce for the salad is in a quart size ziploc bag. This really is more lettuce than one person should be made to eat! I like lettuce but take a look at these picture of my dinner plate full of lettuce. Too much!

I thought when I joined the study, I would get a better understanding of portion control but that doesn't seem to be the case right now. The other day, I had a veggie patty sandwich for lunch. I guess there wasn't enough calories or fiber in the bun so I had some random pieces of bun that I also had to eat.
