Tastes Change

They opened a new tea place in the dining commons this semester. It serves all types of exotic loose leaf teas. I like tea. I have always liked tea but I typically have to add sugar, honey, some type of sweetener so I tend not to drink as much tea as I would like.

This week, I had a cup of tea and tasted it without any sweetener. I decided I didn't need to add anything. The tea was fine unsweetened. I have had a few cups of tea since then and didn't need to add sweetener to any of them. I suppose it is possible that turning 35 means my taste buds don't crave as much sugar.

As I grow older, it is interesting the little changes that happen. My parents used to eat bleu cheese dressing all the time. Growing up, I thought it was gross but now I love it. My parents always ate food that I thought was weird or gross - peas, crackers and milk, liverwurst, liver, bologna, coffee, I could go on and on. I sure hope I don't start to crave fried bologna sandwiches..the smells used to make me nauseous.
