Sick
This might be the year of black people since we have a black man in the Presidential role. It might be the year of the Ox according to the Chinese. It might be the year UConn wins the NCAA tournament (cross your fingers for my bracket!). But for me, so far, this is the year of sickness.
I am not usually sick so often. I tend to get a cold when I travel and when I hang out with kids. Airplanes and children are full of germs! My year of colds started in January. I was visiting Craig in California. We went to the San Diego zoo with our friends the Kovals who were also visiting from Pennsylvania. After we got home from the zoo, I was exhausted and felt a bit loopy. The next day I was knocked out sick - couldn't stay awake for more than a few hours, congested, achy, sick. This illness lasted a couple days.
In February, I went to New York for a conference and returned home sicker than I have ever been. The doctor tested me for influenza (which I didn't have) and told me to rest for a full week. I have never been home from work on doctor's orders for a full week. I didn't get to do anything at home but lie on the couch, sweat, cough, sneeze, and sleep for 7 days.
In March, I went to visit Kris and the kids. Dylan was sick while I was there but I left Oregon feeling fine. I landed in California to see Craig on Saturday afternoon. We met up with my dad and had dinner. I felt fine but on Sunday I was extremely tired and took a couple naps. I like to nap but two naps is a bit much even for me. On Monday, I woke up sick and slept on and off on Craig's couch for the whole day. What a way to spend my time in California with my boyfriend!
I returned to Pennsylvania and felt better for one day but have been sick for a full day but have been sick since then. On Tuesday, I went to the doctor and have been on antibiotics since then. I feel a little better because the haze is gone but it has been replaced by a killer cough.
I am not sure what else they can do for me but I am heading to the doctor again tomorrow.
